NEW WOOD: Wipe the wood with Interlux® Special Thinner 216 to remove any natural surface oils and contaminants. Allow to dry, sand surfaces with 180-220 (grade) grit paper (always sand along the length of the grain). Remove all sanding residue by vacuuming the surface. Wipe the surface with Interlux Special Thinner 216 and allow to dry completely prior to application of Cetol® Marine Light.
PREVIOUSLY COATED WOOD: Remove all coatings prior to application of Cetol® Marine Light. To remove old coating, either sand with 120-180 (grade) grit paper or use Interlux Interstrip 299E chemical stripper which has been designed for marine use. Once previous coating has been removed, follow instructions for New Exterior/Interior wood.
WEATHERED/OILED WOOD: To ensure good adhesion of Cetol® Marine Light on weathered or previously oiled wood, use Interlux Premium Teak Restorer with a nylon scruffing pad as per instructions on label. Rinse with fresh water and allow to dry. Once complete follow instructions for New Exterior/Interior wood.
APPLICATION INFORMATION: The wood moisture content should be below 18%. Apply liberally using a long-haired bristle brush, smoothly, in the direction of the grain. Keep a wet edge to prevent lap marks and thoroughly saturate end grains where possible. Apply 3 coats of Cetol® Marine Light. Always allow 24 hours drying time in between coats. Sanding between coats is not recommended as this will result in a reduction of dry film thickness. Recommended film thickness must be applied to ensure effective product performance. Make regular inspections to all coated areas. Problem areas should be attended to immediately and maintenance coats should be routinely applied. If the coating is allowed to weather beyond the regular maintenance period of 1 year, returning this surface to excellent condition will be more difficult. Before application of a maintenance coat of Cetol® Marine Light, clean the surface with Interlux All Purpose Boat Soap to remove any surface contaminants as per instructions on label. If blue fungi or mildew are present then they can be treated with Interlux Premium Teak Restorer with a nylon scruffing pad as per instructions on label. Rinse with fresh water and allow to dry. Sand lightly with 220-320 (grade) grit paper. …

Siphon Cup: Pressure: 3.44-4.47 bar/50-65 psi - gun pressure. Tip Size: 1.5-1.8 mm/60-70 thou. Brush Always use a clean brush that is kept specifically for varnishing. Clean brushes before use. Roller If rolling, use a thin nap roller and "tip-off" with a clean natural bristle brush. Other Spray pressures listed are recommendations only. The applicator may use any settings which yield the best results for the individual spraying technique and current weather conditions. To enhance appearance of the bare wood and fill porous open grain, apply Interstain according to label directions and allow to dry overnight. Excessive wet film thickness (more than 5 mils WFT) may result in poor and uneven gloss. Never leave bare wood exposed for long periods of time as it will absorb moisture. Avoid using Goldspar Satin* straight from the can as this will cause it to age prematurely and may introduce contamination to the can. Failure to follow proper dry times carefully will cause improper drying, wrinkling and loss of adhesion. Avoid painting in direct sunlight. Product temperature should be minimum 10°…

Interlux Micron CSC Antifouling Bottom Paint
Interlux Micron CSC is a premium self-polishing ablative bottom paint that delivers long-lasting, multi-season protection against marine fouling. Using Micron Technology, this copper-copolymer formula slowly wears away in a controlled way as the boat moves, continually exposing fresh biocide at the surface. That means reliable antifouling performance in fresh, salt, and brackish water without the heavy paint build-up and aggressive sanding associated with many hard bottom paints.
Micron CSC is suitable for both powerboats and sailboats and can be used on fiberglass, wood, and properly primed steel or lead below the waterline. It is not recommended for aluminum hulls or underwater aluminum components. Available in a range of popular colors, it’s one of the most trusted choices for boaters who want proven, easy-to-maintain multi-season protection.
Best Uses
Multi-season antifouling protection for powerboats and sailboats
Boats that stay in fresh, salt, or brackish water for extended periods
Owners who want an ablative coating that minimizes bottom paint build-up and sanding at recoat time
Boats that are hauled for winter storage and relaunched the following season
Fiberglass, wood, and properly primed steel or lead hulls below the waterline (not suitable for aluminum)
Key Features & Benefits
Multi-season ablative protection: Micron Technology provides long-lasting defense against a wide range of fouling in all water types when applied at the recommended film thickness.
Copper-copolymer formula: Uses a controlled-solubility copolymer with cuprous oxide to maintain an active biocide layer at the paint surface throughout the season.
Self-polishing, low build-up: The coating gradually erodes in a controlled way, like a bar of soap, helping prevent excessive paint build-up and reducing the amount of sanding needed at recoat.
Haul and relaunch flexibility: Micron CSC can be hauled for storage and relaunched later without losing effectiveness, provided the film is in good condition and properly cleaned before going back in the water.
Smoother, more efficient hull: The polishing action helps the bottom remain smooth, which can improve speed and fuel efficiency compared to rough or heavily built-up coatings.
Versatile application: Can be applied by brush, roller, or spray over most existing antifouling paints that are in sound condition, following the Interlux compatibility guidelines.
Application & System Overview
Micron CSC can be applied over most well-adhered antifouling coatings or directly to properly prepared bare substrates as part of an Interlux paint system. Always read the product label and technical datasheet before starting a job.
Substrates: Fiberglass, wood, and properly primed steel or lead below the waterline (not for aluminum hulls or drives).
Existing antifouling: Confirm compatibility with the Interlux antifouling compatibility chart. The existing paint must be aged, tightly adhered, and in good condition.
Coats: Typically 2–3 full coats are recommended, with an extra stripe coat on high-wear areas such as the waterline, chines, rudders, and leading edges.
Methods: Apply by brush, roller, or spray using equipment suitable for solvent-based bottom paints, following all safety and ventilation guidelines.
Always stir or shake Micron CSC thoroughly before and during application to keep the copper and resins evenly distributed in the can.
Surface Preparation Overview
Good surface preparation is essential for maximum performance and adhesion. The steps below are a general overview; always follow the detailed instructions on the Micron CSC label and technical datasheet.
Previously painted surfaces – in good condition
Scrub the bottom to remove slime, salts, and loose growth, then rinse and allow to dry.
Lightly sand with the recommended grit if required to create a smooth, dull surface.
Remove sanding residue and …

Interlux 202Q Fiberglass Solvent Boat Wash and Wax Remover
202 Fiberglass Solvent Wash is a combination of several solvents, some of which are very slow to evaporate from the surface of gel coat being wiped. This characteristic is very important because the wax contaminants must stay in solution so that it can be wiped from the surface before it dries. 202 Solvent wash is also an excellent parts clean up and multi-purpose wipe down solvent.
Use before painting bare fiberglass gel coats. This solvent removes mold release agents, wax, oil, and grease. Leaves a properly cleaned surface for optimal paint adhesion. 202 Solvent is also used for cleaning painting tools.
