EZY-Glide EZY-Stik Replacement Cable
When it's time to replace the cable on your EZY-Glide EZY-Stik mechanical steering system, getting the right fit matters. These replacement cables work specifically with EZY-Stik II 840 and EZY-Stik III 870 systems. To determine the correct length, measure from your helm's center to the engine's center, add 8 inches, then round up to the nearest half foot. These cables are kept in stock for same-day shipping, getting you back on the water quickly. Note that these cables are designed exclusively for EZY-Glide EZY-Stik systems and aren't compatible with other steering brands.
How to Measure a Replacement Cable Length from EZY-Glide:
Measure from the center of the helm position to the center of the engine.
Add 8" to this measurement.
Round up your system length measurement to the nearest 1/2 foot. (For example, a 12'2" measurement would order a 12-1/2' cable)
Frequently Asked Questions
- What steering systems is this cable compatible with? This cable is for the EZY-Glide EZY-Stik II Model 840 and EZY-Stik III Model 870 mechanical steering systems. It will not work with any other steering brand or model. If you have a different stick steering system or a standard rotary/rack helm, this is not the correct cable. Check the model designation on your helm before ordering.
- How do I measure for the correct cable length? EZY-Glide uses a different measurement method than most other steering cable brands. Measure from the center of your helm position to the center of the engine, add 8 inches to that measurement, then round up to the nearest half foot. For example, a measurement of 12 feet 2 inches becomes a 12.5-foot cable order. Cables are available in half-foot increments from 7 to 15 feet.
- Why does this cable use a different measurement method than standard steering cables? The EZY-Stik is a stick-steering system mounted forward of the operator rather than at a conventional wheel helm, so the cable routing geometry differs from a typical rotary or rack-and-pinion setup. The 8-inch add-on accounts for the connection geometry specific to the EZY-Stik design. Using a standard steering cable measurement method on this system will result in an incorrectly sized cable.
- What engine sizes are the EZY-Stik systems this cable fits rated for? The EZY-Stik II Model 840 and EZY-Stik III Model 870 are for outboard engines up to 70 HP and jet drives up to 90 HP. If your engine exceeds these ratings, the EZY-Stik mechanical system, and by extension this replacement cable, is not appropriate for your application.
- Can I use a SeaStar, Teleflex, or other brand cable as a substitute? No. This cable is engineered for EZY-Glide EZY-Stik systems and uses proprietary end connections that are not interchangeable with SeaStar, Dometic, Quicksilver, or other standard marine cable types. Using a non-EZY-Glide cable on an EZY-Stik helm will result in improper fitment and potentially unsafe steering.

EZY-Glide Hydra-Stik 2500 Hydraulic Stick Steering System
EZY-Glide's Hydra-Stick Hydraulic Steering System provides the convenience of stick steering but delivers on the power and ease of hydraulics. Their hydraulic system is designed similarly to the mechanical steering sticks and has many of the same benefits. However, it has the added advantage of smoother steering with no feedback. There are fewer turns from lock to lock at only 2.8. This means the operator is only turning 1.4 turns to move from center position to a right or left turn.
Installation for the Hydra-Stick Hydraulic steering system can be done on either the port or starboard side of the vessel. Console mounting is also an option. There is a hydraulic helm pump, hydraulic hoses with fittings, universal hydraulic cylinder, bezel, lever, hydraulic fluid and installation manual included in your kit. Recommended for use with outboards up to 90 HP and jet drives 110 HP.
Hydra-Stik 2500 Steering System Includes:
Hydraulic helm pump
20' Hydraulic hose with fittings (set of 2)
Universal hydraulic cylinder
Installation Package (includes woodruff key and shaft nut)
Bezel

EZY-Glide EZY-Stik III Model 870 Mechanical Steering Kit
The Ezy-Stik III has incorporated many of the outstanding and time proven features of the Model 840. These great features include a one piece stainless steel drive spool, and reinforced composite housing. The Model 870 has been developed due to the increased demand for a system with quicker response and shorter lock-to-lock travel distance. The quicker turning ratio provides a faster response and a shorter travel distance from lock to lock.
Due to the fact that 4-stroke engines transfer more negative torque feedback to the operator, if the engine is a 4-stroke over 40 HP, the Ezy-Stik II Model 840 should be considered over the Model 870. Although the 870 has a horsepower rating of 70HP/90HP Jet, it is not recommended for 4-stroke engines over 40 HP.
This system is rated for:
Outboard engines not to exceed 70 HP
Jet drives not to exceed 90 HP
Specifications:
Total lever movement: 44.8 inches/161 degrees
Steering ratio: 5.0/1
Housing dimensions: Approx. 7-1/2" x 7-1/2"
Lever length: 16"
