Frequently Asked Questions

• Is this float safe to use in a lake, or is it only for pools? It works great in both. The saddle design keeps you upright and stable, making it well-suited for lake use (whether you're floating off a dock, an anchored boat, or a swim platform) as well as backyard pools. Just keep it in calm water. It's not designed for rough conditions or moving currents.
• What is the weight capacity of this float? Gail Force does not publish an official weight limit for this float. The 2" closed-cell poly foam construction provides solid buoyancy and is designed to accommodate both adults and kids, but if you have specific weight concerns, reach out to Wholesale Marine directly before purchasing.
• What does the included carabiner clip actually do? When you climb back into the boat, you can clip the saddle float to the Gail Force Float Rope so it doesn't drift away. It's a simple but genuinely useful feature that saves you from chasing your float across the lake.
• Does this work with the Gail Force Float Rope sold on this site? Yes, it's designed to pair with the Gail Force Float Rope. The rope has six foam handles so multiple people can stay connected to the boat at once, and the saddle's carabiner clips right onto it.
• Will the foam break down or absorb water over time? No, closed-cell poly foam doesn't absorb water the way open-cell foam does, so it stays buoyant even after repeated use and won't get waterlogged. The vinyl coating also helps protect it from UV exposure, chlorine, and mildew.
• Any tips for storing multiple saddle floats? They stack flat, which makes storing several of them easy. One heads-up: in very hot weather (like sitting in a hot car or direct sun), the vinyl surfaces can stick together. Store them in a cool, shaded spot when not in use.
• Is this a life-saving device or a substitute for a PFD? No. Like all recreational foam floats, this is not a Coast Guard-approved PFD and should never be used as a substitute for a proper life jacket. Always follow standard water safety practices, especially with children.
